In this match-up of two teams heading in opposite directions, the Brewers kept rolling, while the Red Sox kept struggling. While the Brewers were able to adjust to a big strike zone and became much more aggressive at the plate than usual, the Red Sox had trouble with it from beginning to end.

Jon Zywicki once again got the Brewers started, hitting the first pitch of the game to left center for a double off of Red Sox starter Chris Schmidt. The Brewers got 3 in the inning with 2 walks, 3 stolen bases, a Red Sox error, and a fielder's choice.
Brewers starting pitcher Mike Gazo, cruised through the first 3 innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 4 on the way.

Meanwhile, Schmidt also settled down and pitched 2 scoreless innings, highlighted by a spectacular play by Red Sox third baseman Brisson. In the 4th, the Brewers scored once without getting a hit, when Keith Blouin walked, stole second, advance to third on a passed ball and scored on a ground out by Joe Beelen. The Red Sox then answered back getting 3 hits in the 4th and producing one run with a Jeff Gordon RBI single.

The Brewers then got some much needed insurance in the 5th when Mark Keenan hit an RBI double to score Matt Beelen and then scored himself on a wild pitch to make the score 6-1. Mike Gazo finished off his 5 innings of work by striking out 2 in the 5th. In the 6th, the Brewers put together 4 hits and scored twice with RBI singles by M.Beelen and Jason Krottner.

After Krottner got the Red Sox three up three down and Donoghue got through the top of the 7th with no damage, they went to the bottom of the 7th with the Brewers up 8-1. The Red Sox promptly loaded the bases with nobody out against Krottner. After an RBI single by Baxter and a 2-RBI single by Buhler, Krottner finally got the 3rd out and finishing the game at 8-4.

Player of the Game : Mike Gazo, 5 IP, 6 hits, 1 run, 7 k's.
