Brewers at Hitmen
Heritage

boxscore

On a hot and humid night at dusty Heritage Park , the Brewers looked for their 6th win in a row while the Hitmen looked to break a 3 games losing streak. The Brewers jumped out to quick lead off of Hitmen starter Geoff Magnus with the help of 3 Hitmen errors in the inning. After Brewers starter Matt Beelen easily got through the first, the Hitmen struck in the 2nd when Jaeme Gloyn hit a double with one out. The Brewers almost avoided the damage after Justin Mangat singled Gloyn to third, when Matt Beelen picked off Mangat and then Joe Beelen threw out Gloyn trying to score to get 2 outs. But Tim McGinnis then singled in Mangat to tie the game. The Brewers got out of the inning when Matt Beelen picked off McGinnis.

Meanwhile, Magnus started to settle down, getting through the 2nd easily and then having 2 outs and nobody on in the 3rd. After walking Hank Beelen, Frank Macera drove one to the wall in right field for an RBI double and then Chris Ivany hit in Macera with an RBI single to make the score 3-1. The Hitmen couldn't muster much offense in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th, while the Brewers broke the game open in the 5th. After Hank Beelen scored on a double steal with Dave Rivers, Joe Beelen hit an RBI single and then Jon Zywicki hit a 2 RBI triple to make the score 7-1.

In the bottom of the 6th, the Hitmen tried to make it close, when Lebrasseur singled, Magnus doubled, and Gloyn doubled both in with a ground rule double to right field. Matt Beelen settled down and struck out the next 2 batters to get out of the inning. The Brewers tacked on one more run in the 7th after Rivers doubled and scored on a wild pitch, to make the final score 8-3.
