The Braves and Brewers renewed their rivalry on this night with each team winning 5 games and tieing one in their last 11 match-ups. After both Darren Keating and Matt Beelen got through the first inning scoreless, the Brewers got on the board in the 2nd when Chris Ivany hit a single to left and then Joe Beelen scored when the ball was misplayed. The Braves struck back very quickly though when Randy Stockdale launched a hanging curve ball into the trees in left field for a 2 run homer. The Braves then took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 3rd when "Brewer killer" Jonas Malcolm hit an RBI double.

Jon Zywicki made it 3-2 with a solo homer in the 4th inning and then the Brewers took the lead in the 5th. After Dave Rivers doubled and Joe Beelen was intentionally walked, Frank Macera hit a bloop single to score Rivers, and then Ivany hit a bloop single that Ryan Hobbins just missed making a spectacular play to catch it. In the bottom of the 5th, the Braves threatened with 1st and 2nd with 2 out, but Ivany came in to get Hobbins to line out to second base.

The Brewers then got some insurance in the 6th after Mike Gingerich led off with a double and Joe Beelen hit a bloop single to score him. Ivany pitched the 6th and 7th without giving up a run to get the save and Steve Gilroy pitched a scoreless 7th to make the final score 5-3 for the Brewers in yet another close Brewers/Braves game.
