The still slumping Brewers once again got into a pitching duel on this hot and muggy night, this time between Matt Beelen and the Panthers Kelly Doell. After blanking the Panthers in the top of the first, the Brewers struck quickly as Jon Zywicki lead off with a double and then Jason Krottner hit an RBI single to score him. The Panthers kept the damage to 1 when Steve Smith threw out Krottner trying to score on Frank Macera's single to right field.

The pitchers then took over as Matt Beelen got through the 2nd, 3rd and 4th giving up only 2 hits and a walk. Meanwhile, Doell got through the same 3 innings giving up only 1 hit and a walk. In the 5th, the Panthers got on the board as John Carbonette and Keith Bray singled with one out. Dan Altherr then cashed both in with a bloop single with 2 out. The Panthers couldn't hold the lead for long though as Ricky Burns, Zywicki singled and Matt Beelen walked. Doell then threw a wild pitch to score a run but then got out of the jam to end the inning with the score 2-2. The 6th went by with no change and the game went to the 7th tied at 2.

John Carbonette then lead off the 7th by blasting a home run over the right field fence to take the lead, they got one more hit in the inning but couldn't cash him in. In the bottom of the 7th, Zywicki and Matt Beelen both walked with 2 outs off of new Panther pitcher Nate Thompson. Krottner then hit a bloop single to center field to tie the game, but Thompson was able to get out of the inning still tied.

The game went to extra innings and a wild 8th inning ensued. After Jeff Dawson singled and advanced to 2nd via a wild pitch. Smith hit an RBI single to take the lead yet again forcing the Brewers to yet again come back. Bray came in to pitch in the bottom of the 8th after Macera walked to lead off the inning. Eventually the Brewers got the bases loaded with 2 outs, but Bray was able to get Zywicki to ground out to end the game in favour of the Panthers.
