Kanata at Brewers
McCarthy

boxscore

On a bitter cold night, on the frooooooozen tundra of Lambeau Field errrrr McCarthy Field, the Kanata Selects and Nepean Brewers locked up once again in a close battle. For the first time in 6 meetings dating back to last season, the game was not a one run game, instead they tied!!

Unfortunately, the field is better suited for football, as it contributed to 10 errors being made by the two teams combined. Jason Krottner sailed through the first 3 innings without allowing a run. Meanwhile, Kanata starter Mike Watters allowed a run in the first when Geoff Magnus hit an RBI single. Watters then settled down and didn`t give up another run in his 4 innings of work.

Kanata tied the game in the 4th when they put an un-earned run across with an RBI single by Rob Hopewell. They then took the lead in the 5th as Bob Howe walked with the bases loaded after a couple Brewer errors. In the 6th, after yet another Brewer error, Gavin Mosely made the Brewers pay with a 3 run homer to give Kanata a 5-1 lead.

The Brewers then looked to come back in the bottom of the inning and they were able to plate 2 runs, one un-earned and the other knocked in by an RBI double from Jon Zywicki. The game then went into the bottom of the 7th with Kanata up 5-3. With 2 outs, and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Zywicki came through with a double to tie the game at 5.  That is where the rally ended, as well as the game.

Player of the Game: Jon Zywicki, 4/5, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, stolen base.
