Brewers at Diamondbacks
McCarthy

boxscore

In yet another ugly game at McCarthy, Diamondbacks starter Dave Snyder pitched well enough to win but some costly base-running errors and some timely hits by the Brewers let the win slip away from Snyder.

The Diamondbacks took the upper hand early in the bottom of the 1st after Tony Windsor tripled and then scored on a strike out wild pitch by tough luck Brewers starter Mike Gingerich. The Brewers answered back in the 2nd with an un-earned run scored by Geoff Magnus.

The Diamondbacks again threatened in the 3rd inning as Brian Merkel singled, Tony Windsor doubled and then Scott Boxall singled home one of the runs to take the lead.  Gingerich was able to pitch out of the jam with runner`s on 2nd and 3rd and nobody out. In the top of the 4th, the Brewers once again tied it up when Frank Macera scored on a wild pitch.

The back and forth action continued in the bottome of the frame as Dave Snyder gave the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead by scoring on a wild pitch. Geoff Magnus came in to pitch to get out of the inning. In the top of the 5th, for the third time, came back to tie the game when Sean Lecuyer hit a sac fly to centerfield to score Jon Zywicki.

Magnus faced the minimum in the 5th and 6th, while Taylor also got 3 up 3 down in the 6th. The game went into the 7th tied at 3, at this point the Brewers took the lead for the first time after Gingerich walked to lead off, Bill Beelen sac bunted him to second on his 50th birthday no less. Zywicki then hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Gingerich and take the lead. They then got some much needed insurance as Matt Beelen and Sean Lecuyer hit back-to-back doubles to plate one more run.

The Diamondbacks didn`t roll over though in the bottom of the 7th as with one out, Merkel singled, Levac singled and then Tony Windsor doubled to make the score 5-4. The Brewers then intentionally walked Scott Boxall and then Magnus struck out the next two batters to clinch the victory.

Player of the Game : Tony Windsor...3/4, double, triple, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, stolen base.
