Recap
In the first meeting of 2009 between these 2 long time rivals, a typical McCarthy game ensued with lots of ugly plays, lots of baserunners and unhappy fielders!
The Brewers stranded the bases loaded in the first inning off of Panther rookie Matt Dickson.  Matt Battig, in his first start in NCBL action since 2006 had a rough
start giving up a lead off single to Chris Latimer and then threw 3 wild pitches to give up a run and it was 1-0 Panthers after 1 inning.
The Brewers answered immediately in the 2nd, scoring 2 runs on no hits, 2 Panther errors and 3 walks, but Dickson limited the damage leaving the bases loaded
for the second straight inning. The scoring picked up again in the 3rd when the Panthers got singles from Adrian Delorey and Kevin Miller to tie the game.
The back and forth continued in the 4th when Scott Tunis hit a double, Matt Beelen singled him in, then Geoff Magnus singled in Beelen despite a diving effort
down the line by Panthers left fielder John Carbonette.
Alas, the Panthers answered immediately in the bottom of the 4th after Andre Robidoux scored Trevor Bowering from first on a triple down the right field line and then
Mike Disalvo scored Robidoux with an RBI single to leave the game tied at 4 after 4!
The Panthers would not score in the 5th or 6th while getting 3 baserunners, and the Brewers also didn't score in the 5th and 6th, striking out 5 times against new
Battig did escape a jam in the 5th with 2 outs and 2 runners on, Robidoux hit a gapper to right centre, but James Marshall came up with a huge diving catch!
Panther pitcher Mike Evans.  This brings us to the 7th inning, Jon Zywicki led off with a single and then advanced to 3rd from 1st on an infield groundout.
Matt Battig then made it safely to first after a Panther error, but Zywicki was unable to score.  Joe Beelen then came up and hit an RBI single to left to score Zywicki.
Mike Gingerich then hit Battig in by beating out a 6-4-3 double play attempt at first and give the Brewers a 6-4 lead.
Matt Beelen then came in for the save by getting a 3 up 3 down inning.
Player of the game : Matt Beelen, 1/1 with 3 walks, RBI, run scored…1 IP, save.
