Recap
The Kingston Ponies travelled to Ottawa on this night for the first meeting of the year between these 2 teams that played 5 times in 2008.
A pitching duel quickly ensued between Matt Beelen of the Brewers and Dillon Lowry of the Ponies.  With Lowry getting through the first 2 innings with relative ease.
Meanwhile, Beelen also got through the first 2 innings easily giving up just 1 hit, a double by Jed Vallier.
The Brewers did strike for 1 run in the 3rd after an RBI single by Adam Oattes.  The game went into the 5th, with the Brewers clinging to a 1-0 lead and Beelen working
on a 2 hitter.  But in the 5th, the Ponies tied the game after a single by Craig Coupland led off the inning, was bunted to second, and then with  2 outs,
Derek Mack hit an RBI single to tie the game 1-1.
The Brewers then responded immediately, mostly due to 6 walks by Ponies pitchers.  The 1 hit of the inning, gave the Brewers a 2-1 lead, an RBI single by Oattes.
Unfortunately for the Ponies, after all the walks, the Brewers tagged on 3 more runs for a 5-1 lead.
Beelen, working with a lead again, gave up just 1 hit and 1 HBP in the last 2 innings for the victory.
Player of the game : Matt Beelen, 7 IP, 1 ER, 5 hits, 2 K's
