PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG  His .385 BA, .500 OBP, and 15 SBs in the leadoff spot may speak for themselves but don’t tell the whole story of Serge’s contribution to the Acadiens’ lineup.  In addition to great offensive numbers, Serge also anchored the defence at shortstop with great range, and quick hands and feet around second base, which contributed to a team record 13 double-plays turned this season.   Of course, the most valuable player shouldn’t be chosen solely on the basis of his individual numbers, but because of what he contributed to the entire team. Here, whether on offence or defence (and leaving aside the commitment he showed by driving from his home in Cornwall to play) Serge stands out. Without Serge in the lineup the Acadiens were 1-7 this season. With him, they were 10-5-1. Can’t argue with that, bitches.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG GA led the KNIGHTS as our lead off hitter all season. He led the team in PA, runs scored, hits, singles, doubles, stolen bases, walks & on base percentage. All this done while hitting over .400 on the season. His ability to get on base and make things happen created many a rally for the KNIGHTS baseball club this season. Great season - well done.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG A veritable 5-tool baseball player and a stand-up guy on and off the field, Darren Hempel was the obvious choice for Mavs’ 2011 MVP.With contributions on both sides of the ball for the Mavs was Darren Hempel.  A quiet leader on the 3rd place Mavs, the 2nd year player earned the respect of his teammates by his hard work and unselfish attitude.   He battled through a sometimes (often) porous Mavs’ defense with vigour and determination to get the next out.  To go along with his 10 wins and 3 ties on the mound, Hempel also added a .333 batting average and a .389 on-base percentage. His quiet confidence and demeanour on the mound combined with his smooth swing and quick feet solidifies @dbhempel as the best candidate for Tier 3 MVP.  #beastmode indeed

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG Eric White was clearly the best player on the MVP Royals in 2011.  The team won 11 games and he won 7 and saved 4 of those games.  When he was not pitching, he played an excellent SS.  At the plate, his 40 hits must be amongst the Tier leaders.  Most importantly for an MVP vote, without him, there would be no way for the MVP Royals to get to the post season in 2011.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG Graham returned to the Acadiens after a two-year hiatus on the west coast. He spent his comeback season posting monster offensive numbers, immediately making him the clear-cut best hitter on the Acadiens.  With an astounding .563 BA, .622 OBP, and 1.031 SLG, Graham was a dominant force -- incredibly recording more extra-base hits than singles this season!    He also landed a HR, joining an elite group of NCBLers who can (honestly) make that claim. The only reason Graham didn’t also lead the NCBL in base-on-balls is because Tier 3 teams do not employ advance scouts.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG Rob Chapman enjoyed a fantastic rookie campaign in the NCBL and on the Mavericks.  His team leading 16 hits and 25 BBs (we estimate 18 of those came by HBP) earned @bobbychaps a .400 batting average and a .575 on-base percentage.  The lefty hitter always worked opposition pitchers deep into counts and waited for a pitch he could handle before driving to both gaps with power.  His surprising, for a catcher, speed also allowed him to cash-in 15% #Mavsmetric of the Mavs runs for a Wins above replacement ratio of 7.2 #sabermetric.

IP SO W-L-S ERA WHIP The co-founder of the Acadiens baseball club and crafty veteran of the team’s rotation, Rene turned in one of the most impressive seasons of his career.   Sporting a sparkling 1.67 ERA with 23K,  12BB, and an incredible 1.09 WHIP, Rene was virtually untouchable, mixing speeds, hitting corners, often keeping the Acadiens in the game and when the offence sputtered... and single-handedly keeping Tylenol and Players Light profitable. From the on-deck circle, opponents would see Rene’s slow, loopy, curveball as the stuff that homeruns are made of. And then they faced him. A few wild swings and one out later, most batters were back on the bench wondering what the heck had just happened.

IP SO W-L-S ERA WHIP Tex (Hooter, Skippy) is a hard throwing lefty who is and has been the ace of the KNIGHTS pitching staff for many years. Tex takes the ball each start and doesn't want to give it back. An innings eater who keeps his team in each and every game that he takes the mound. Tex's best quality is that the team played great when his pitching leads to a W & that he screwed up and apologizes to the team when we lose. This is a horse that any team would want as their go to guy. Another great season - well done.

IP SO W-L-S ERA WHIP Darren Hempel’s 2011 campaign can be qualified by any number of terms: ace, workhorse, number one or #beastmode.  The 2nd year Mavs’ pitcher went undefeated on the season with a perfect 10-0-3 record which accounted for 23 of the team’s 31 points in the standings.   Although soft-spoken off the field, he is a force not to be taken lightly on the mound.  His 3-pitch arsenal induced many inning ending ground-balls and lazy pop flies to keep the Mavs in a position to win each ball-game that @dbhempel pitched.  The Albertan, that kind of looks like Sean Burroughs (or Tin-Tin), finished the season with career highs in innings pitched 70.2, wins 10, 50 Ks, a 1.78 ERA and 10 complete games.
