PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG What can be said about the Dukes’ own Captain Clutch? Browner is the heart of the Dukes, both with the glove and at the plate. As Browner goes, so do the Dukes, and both Browner and the Dukes had their best season yet in tier three with a record of 15-9. Steve’s versatility in the field was on full display throughout the year, playing innings at every position, except pitcher.
Browner was in the top two or three of all the Dukes offensive categories including finishing the season with a .343 batting average, OBP of .444 and leading the Dukes in RBI with 18. Not only did Steve do all this on the field he returned as a staple in the hyjinx festivities helping the Dukes go undefeated in 2014.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG In the junket that is the Remax Rockets – a team running on increasingly flabby bodies held together by surgeries and non-prescribed prescription drugs - Nick Lenardon is the one star that shone brightly.  Though the Remax Rockets crashed and sunk faster than an Italian Cruise ship, rest assured it wasn’t the fault of Captain Nick Lenardon.  He put up staggering pitching numbers and even more outstanding offensive ones. He was clutch throughout the year, time and time again delivering timely hits and/or getting big outs; dragging the rest of the Remax Rockets along on his long coat tails.  Lenardon is not the hero Tier 3 deserves; nor is he the hero Tier 3 needs right now.  In fact, he is not even a real hero in any sense of the word. However what he is, is a damn good ball player who had a great 2014.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG Scott is a leader in every aspect of his game.  As our shortstop he ate up ground balls with range and completed plays with unbelievable smoothness.  As a pitcher he was a key role player, he could start the game and go the distance or come in late and shut things down.  As a hitter he was both dangerous on the base paths and a threat to go deep.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG What can we say about Phil that hasn't been mentioned already. He has been our MVP 3 years in a row. He really does it all. He played every position on the field this year except 1st (due to height restrictions). He led our team in hits (29), runs (21) and average. Also a workhorse on the mound with 40+ innings and a impressive 6-1 record. Those who remember playing against him should give him some consideration as we would not be as successful without Phil.

Best Batter
Team Player
PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG The Dukes’ nominee for 2014 best hitter is Stephane Leclair. Stranger to no pitcher in tier three, Leclair hit the ball hard all season and the numbers back it up. Leclair led the Dukes in hits (29), slugging (.446), extra-base hits (6), stolen bases (12), runs scored (22), and total bases (37). Steph accomplished all of this on a team that finished with a negative total for runs for - runs against.
Playing on a team that’s tough on one another on the score sheet, Steph hit, hustled and earned every notch he got in the stats this season. As a bonus to all he does on the score sheet Steph also works as team translator, plus he helps control the greater Ottawa area raccoon population.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG In 2014, Nick Lenardon reached double platinum with his smash album, “Let’s Get This Hit Going, You Dirty Pitch!”.  You want hits? This album had them.  The first single off the album “Average .566 / ONB .625 (feat. Flo-Rida and Paul McCartney)” was a smash success, near the top of the Tier 3 charts.  His following smash hit “A Dozen Doubles (of Love)” was equally successful, topping Casey Kasem’s countdown for 11 weeks running.  Lenardon’s follow-up track, “Just One Triple” was a flop, panned by critics (i.e. his teammates) as being “due to a strange lack of speed despite being an in-shape young person.” However, Lenardon came back with a vengeance with his final release, “3 Homers, 27 RBIs”; a song that vaulted him up into contention for Best Tier 3 Hitter of 2014.

Best Pitcher
Team Player
IP SO W-L-S ERA WHIP Some things change while other things stay the same…like the Dukes’ 2014 nomination for best pitcher – Steve Rumleski. Big number 27 was once again the Dukes best pitcher recording a third of the teams total wins with five. Rumleski was second overall in the tier with 60 innings pitched, holding teams, over that stretch, to an ERA of just 2.68.
The pride of White Lake did it all for Dukes on the hill this year – he started every big game of the season. He also came in from the bullpen in close games, which was pretty often, considering the Dukes won six games by one run in 2014. All in all Rumleski was the Ace the Dukes  had to have to be competitive in tier three.

IP SO W-L-S ERA WHIP Jesse was once again our workhorse. By no means a flamethrower, Jesse used intelligence and finesse to limit opposing teams to only 23 earned runs in 59 innings pitched. 4 complete games and 1 shutout, Jesse's ability to provide so many quality innings was a huge boost to our pitching corps.

IP SO W-L-S ERA WHIP Brad’s K/9 innings (9.72) was better than both Felix Hernandez (9.4) and Masahiro Tanaka (9.29). Brad had a lower era (2.77) than Josh Beckett (2.88) and Jeff Samardzi..uh…Julio Teheran (2.88).    Brad’s WHIP (1.33) was a sight better than Daisuke Matsuzaka (1.36) and Cliff Lee (1.38).  Sure, Brad had only 4 wins on the regular season, but that was largely a testament to the incompetence of the team behind him.  That’s all to say: Where is Brad’s multi-year, multi-million dollar deal? He turned it down. His commitment to the Remax Rockets, the NCBL, beer, and free nachos and wings after the game is what motivates B-rad to B-awesome.

IP SO W-L-S ERA WHIP Peter was stellar every time he pitched -- his record should have been 8-0.  He was accurate when he had to be and was just wild enough to be scary.  He led the tier with a tiny 0.89 ERA,  recorded 61K's in 47 innings and picked up a key save at the end of the year. He achieved all this while playing through a broken rib.  Definitely deserves the big prize this year.

Sportsmanship and Ability
Team Player
PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG Larry Pawelek is the Dukes nominee for the Mike Robillard Sportsmanship and Ability award. He’s the Dukes leader on and off the field, always leading by his example. Larry’s the first guy to the field and usually the last to leave, and you can’t play with or against him without noticing his love for baseball, and his team.
Pawelek is the Dukes long-time steady-handed second baseman with a great bat; evidenced by the fact he’s currently sitting second all-time for the Dukes in total hits (200). But in recent years he’s known equally throughout the league for his pitching prowess as Larry “the Swiggler”.
As a player and manager, Larry does it all for the Dukes and leaves it all on the field...and maybe some in the parking lot.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG What do Ray Rice, Vladimir Putin, and ISIS have in common with Warren Goodlet? Absolutely nothing, which is why the Rockets are proud to nominate Warren Goodlet for the Sportsmanship and Ability Award in 2014. Beneath the grizzly ol’ beard of the wiley ol’ veteran lies yet another ol’ beard.  Below THAT beard, lies the face of a man that cannot lie.  Warren has excelled in his role as a player/coach, buoyed by the fact that he is the only guy on the Remax Rockets that truly understands the rules of baseball.  In addition to being a master in-game strategist, Warren put up formidable numbers at the plate, providing a couple of clutch hits along the way.  Being the son of a NCBL umpire, as well as a former umpire himself, Warren always approached the umpires with sincere respect and a (less than sincere) warmth that only his wife and a couple of his mistresses have ever known.  Remember, it is not “Bad-let” or “Average-let”, it’s “Good-let”, Warren Goodlet.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG Scott is talented and classy to his core.  His ability is remarkable, he's got a powerful bat, he's a slick-handed shortstop and he's a crafty pitcher.  He's won 5 out of our 6 MVP awards and will likely win many more.  But, what really sets him apart is his cool, quiet and level-headed approach to the game.  Motivational without being negative and competitive without being aggressive.  Nobody in the world has a bad thing to say about him -- opponents and umpires included.

PA RBI AVG ONB SLUG They say his power comes from the souls of vanquished warriors. Some say, he will never have a heart attack because his heart isn’t nearly foolish enough to attack him. Others say he can win a game of
Connect Four in only 3 moves. For all we know, Tom “Freight Train” Coyne, truly is a respected and fearless leader of the BLACK SOX.
Nicknamed “Freight Train” because he is like a runaway freight train running the bases, Tom is a leader of men (and woman) who always puts the team ahead of himself. Tom was always there to bring the
team together, make the tough decisions, and lead by example with his infectious smile and super chill attitude. Tom was our coach, manager, left fielder, and 9th hitter on the BLACK SOX. Tom also chipped in with 15 hits and was the proud owner of a solid .357 batting average, while playing exceptional defence in the outfield.
