Los Vampiros’ MVP for 2014 is
none other than David ‘Boobie’ Crane. Dave is an excellent candidate for Tier
MVP given his overall game. An exceptional leadoff hitter Dave has got to be
near the top of tier in hits with 32, as well as stolen bases with 22. Dave
showed some pop as well with 7 extra base hits along the way to go with his
.478 batting average while scoring over a run per game on average. Dave’s
defensive game was of equal importance with getting the Los V’s to the
playoffs manning shortstop for the majority of his 18 games played this
season. Dave is a difference maker for his team. |

I believe Nick should get some
serious consideration for MVP based on his contributions in the field, on the
mound, at the plate and off the field. Nick has one of the best arms in tier
4 and his inflated ERA is more of a reflection of his teammates than his
pitching. The great thing about Nick is that he never gets down and never
blames his teammates for anything that transpires. When not pitching, Nick
was solid behind the plate and in the outfield. At the plate he too was solid
although numbers again don’t reflect what he brought to the table. He did hit
the Lynx’s first homerun in team history. |

Since we can’t nominate the
entire team, Stu gets the nod this
year. Leading the team in 6 of the
offensive categories, and having that winning MVP attitude, must be why they
think he’s the MVP. |

What can you say about Kyle
other than a leader on the top team in the league for 2014. Not only did he have a very solid year at
the plate, he was also as solid behind the plate leading the Bytown Bombers
to a 23-3-2 record. Kyle batted 3rd on
a team with a solid hitting line up, which is not easy to do as a
catcher. Regular season avg of 491,
slugging of .623, and OBP of over .600.
His 22 RBI’s, 26 hits, and 26 runs scored were all tops for the
Bombers in 2014. Behind the plate, he
called a great game, kept everyone informed throughout the game, and also had
a solid arm and tossed over 12 runners out this year alone. He is a solid player, a teammate that you
want to have, and a player you do not want to play against is why Kyle is
nominated for NCBL Tier 4 MVP of the 2014 season. |

Jamie was the team leader on the
field with his solid catching and can be credited with helping the team
pitching at the times when the team was playing well. He was also the biggest threat at the plate
which I think is shown with his 8 HBP and 10 walks which seemed indicate that
our opponents respected what he could do if he had the chance to hit the
ball. |

"Stellar Geller" as
often referred to was just that. He
could be placed in any position and excel.
Never could a pitcher overcome his patience at the plate, if he struck
out you would almost think he did it to give the pitcher a chance. Always a team player he never questioned an
umpire, never questioned a manager and brought an uplifting and upbeat
attitude to the Hurricanes. Leading
the team in walks 23, batting average .523 , stolen bases with 13, on base
percentage .686, doubles 5 , hits (2nd with 23) and first in best facial
expressions to what he didn't beleive was amazing. He took managers dream player to another
level. If I could vote for league MVP
and batter I would say no competition to this guy, nobody deserves the honor
more than this guy. |

He was consistently counted on for his
hitting and pitching. Hitting as the
clean up in most games, Chris put up outstanding stats. He finished first in the league for
Slugging %, OPS, Triples, Homeruns, RBIs, Total Bases, K/PA, Strikeouts. Chris also finished 3rd in batting average,
tied for 2nd in hits and 6th in runs.
His batting average was 0.540, he did not strikeout all year, hit 5
homeruns, a slugging of 1.000, OPS of 1.567 with 34 RBIs. Chris was also a
workhorse as a pitcher, pitching in 11 games, for 30.65 innings striking out
61 batters of 154 batters faced, only allowing 17 hits. |

Boobie Crane had an exceptional
year at the plate eclipsing the 30 hit mark for the first time in team
history. Dave led the Los V’s in Runs, Hits, Doubles, Home Runs, Stolen
Bases, Batting Average, On-base percentage, and OPS. One of the fastest
players in the tier also showed off his power stroke this year with 7 extra
base hits. Not too shabby for a guys who’s asked to get on base. A worthy
candidate for tier batter of the year among the many strong candidates in the
tier this season. |

Chris was our best and most
consistent hitter. When he went down to injury it left a huge hole in our
lineup that we could not fill. For a team that had problems scoring, Chris
did everything in his power to get us runs; whether it was stealing bases, taking
extra bases on hits or sacrifices, Chris lead our team in hits, doubles and
plate appearance. He had a great batting average as well. His low strikeouts
to plate appearances denotes his eye at the plate. |

When talking best hitter, let
the numbers do the talking….492 avg, 22 RBI’s, .623 slugging, over .600 OBP,
not to mention 10 walks and 5 hit by pitches.
He also scored 26 runs and stole an odd base which is very impressive
as a catcher. Kyle ranked in the top
10 in every offensive category other than triples, home runs, walks (still
had 10), and stolen bases (still had 4).
If you are looking for the best hitter in the league, finishing in the
top 10 in almost every offensive stat is a great place to start your
search. All players on the Bombers
liked Kyle for the offensive producer he was in 2014, and understandably most
teams did not like to face him when he was in the batter’s box. |

He played in 17 of our team's
games (starting almost every one), and when he did start he was almost always
in the cleanup spot. His 22 RBI were the most on the team (nine more than our
closest player), and though he didn't have the best average on the team his
.366 average was still top five among those who played in at least 15 games.
He also took the most walks (15) and his eight strikeouts were third best
among those who played at least 15 games. This all led to an OBP of .508 that
was top-3 on the team.

Darren Trenholm is the Los
Vampiros pitcher of the year. The one known as Troutface is the definition of
a gamer, pitching over 40 innings and registering a 5-1 record on a team that
only won 7 games. Darren finished with a respectable ERA and WHIP despite
pitching in front of some suspect D, often having to register 9 or 10 innings
worth of outs in his many 7 inning complete games. The numbers may not be
sexy, but at the end of the day you ask your aces to get the team some W’s,
and Darren is one of the best in that regard. |

Brian had been out of playing
competitive ball for some time but you wouldn’t know it with the way he
pitched. Like all our pitchers, Brian didn’t a lot of defensive help in his
starts (as you can see by his runs to earned runs) and was forced to get a lot
of 4 and 5 out innings, but he kept us in all the games he pitched. What is
amazing is that on a team that lost 17 games, Brian only had 1 loss and he
made 5 starts. His strikeouts to walk ratio is fantastic and is a true
battler. Brian should be give serious consideration for pitcher of the year. |

Brian followed his 2013 Tier 4
MVP campaign with another solid year on the mound. He went a solid 6-0-2 season, along with 2
saves over 40 innings pitched. Not
known as a strike out pitcher, the lefty still collected 26 K’s, while only giving up an impressive
12 walks and 35 hits all season. The
crafty lefty also held runners at bat and again picked off over 5 runners at
first this year. If you wanted to
start a team and needed a solid player to pick up innings, and more important
wins, Brian is the first place a team should look. |

The team had two main pitchers
for the season and their performances were close to each other all season

gets the nomination for having a better ERA and more strikeouts. He deserved a couple wins in games that got

"DICK" as we named him
was our ace. Coming into this season
knowing we lost a couple of main guys in the off season he stepped up and
either blew people away in his starts or saved a dying pitcher struggling. His serious face was not madness but that
of a focused on making the out no matter what it took. Most inning pitched on the team with 37.66
he struck out 23 batters with a 3.90 era with an amazing count of only 7
walks. He got the job done and made it

He pitched 20 innings, which
were the most on the team. That may not stack up with the rest of the tier,
but that's more a product of our pitching depth than an indication of his
effectiveness (we had 13 different pitchers who took the mound this season).
He finished with a 1.40 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and 29 Ks, all leading to a 3-0
record, which includes a no-hitter. |

Cody
was sorely missed at the beginning of the season after injuring his thumb at
the Mavericks baseball tournament. He
started pitching for the Irish in the 7th game, and was counted on weekly. Pitching in the majority of the next
games. He went undefeated, 5 - 0,
faced 166 batters and only gave up 20 hits.
He had a few complete games. |
