"Mr. Ass" was the
bringer of rain in 2017. There was a record number of rain outs and wet
fields all because this guy crushed the ball. In addition, Louis was an
integral part of the BLACK SOX bullpen by recording 2 saves, and also played
fantastic defence in RF. Indeed a solid 2017 campaign and worthy as the most
valuable player to our team.

So your MVP, we feel it would be
a guy that you would want to pitch for you any time you needed, play
shortstop or second or third, and let’s say lead off your team at the
plate…by this definition Rene meets every category. He lead our teams in
plate appearances, runs and walks, and 2nd only to the speedster Peterson,
not to mention splitting the workload on the mound with Totes. Game in and
game out, Rene is our guy for MVP in 2017. |

Despite the fact that it was a
rainy, wet season which led to dew like conditions for most games Steph
Leclair had another Steph-like season this year. Steph played solid defence
in left field and once again led the Dukes in most hitting categories.

Marc was a rock behind and at
the plate for us this year. He had arguably his best season ever defensively,
while handling the majority of the innings at catcher with a new pitching
staff. His body bore the brunt of the learning curve, but he kept us in a lot
of games by saving bad pitches (despite what the record would suggest) and
that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. He was also a beast at the plate,
hitting for average and power, not striking out and showing a keen eye,
leading the league in walks.

Dominant pitcher, dangerous
hitter, great 3B/SS. This year he was also determioned to make it through the
entire season without being ejected. He succeeded!! Setting that type of goal
and acheiving it is indicative of his character. Top notch ball player. |

Where to start! You can find Rod
near the top of pretty much every offensive categories. 2nd average, 2nd in
hits, top 3 in doubles, slugging, etc.. He was by far the O's offensive
player of the year. Considered a five tool player that can hit, run, throw,
field and pitch. He also played a big role as one of our primary pitchers.
Great season! Well deserved nomination!

Same old, same old from the
Rockets. Another great year on the mound (7-0, 2 saves, 42 Ks in 49 innings)
and at the plate (1.18 OPS, 4 HRs, 19 RBIs). All this while never fully
understanding how to wear appropiate baseball socks. Nick Lenardon: Great player;
mediocre personality; terrible dresser.

Mr. Ass was at the top of the
leaderboard in every major offensive statistic. He was consistent, clutch,
and hit for power. Louis worked hard all season to perfect the art of
hitting. In 2017 he was finally rewarded with his success.

Yes, last place team and batter
of the year, how many teams reading this…worth the read. Yes Eric was an
early season addition to our team, and soon made a major impact at the plate.
Yes, only 33 plate appearances for 26 AB’s, but 16 of those AB’s resulted in
a hit, going along with 7 ribby’s. Teams quickly caught on that they were
better off to skip Eric with a walk and go after our next batter as odds were
better that way. Yes, only 33 plate appearances, but 21 bases with a 615
average is worth a top 3 finalist. |

ball hard all season. Very casual player with a winning demeanor. One can see

year, you'll probably be paying attention next year. Hands down, our MVP and
should be a strong candidate for league MVP

The Rockets are happy to
nominate someone for an award that is NOT Nick Lenardon. Belmore had a
breakthrough year with an OPS of 1.150 and 16 RBIs. He did this all while
playing both third base and catching; impressive for a man that sweats when
he sneezes. Vote Belly in 2017.

In 2017, there were many worthy
candidates for this award as the BLACK SOX were blessed with tremendous
pitching depth. If you enjoy sabermetrics, Phil was among the league leaders
in lowest ERA (1.62) and WHIP (1.24). Phil also recorded 4 wins, 3 complete

If he could pitch every game, he
would and probably could! He's a great competitor who wants to be on the
mound for big games. Led the league in batters faced, innings pitched, and
top 5 in K's and wins. Always calm, cool and collected with consistent performances!
He was our ace and if it wasn't for Eric, we probably would not have made the

Jesse kept a 0 ERA into mid
July. Was dominant all year, only giving up an earned run in 3 games all
season. Even took a no hitter into the 7th (finished as a 1 hitter).

David Ledrew made 3 epic
comebacks this season! After a 3 year hiatus from baseball to rest his arm,
Dave worked his butt off during spring training so he could start on opening
day vs the Misfits and get the W. The very next week, Dave took a month off to
ride his bike across America for the 2nd time. When he returned, he played
solid defense and was a force in our lineup. Then he tragically sprained his
ankle vs the Dukes and was out for 6-weeks. Dave underwent an intense rehab
and participated in all of the team practices with a walking boot! Now that's
dedication!

Bryan combines both playing
ability and sportsmanship as good as any player in Tier 3 each year,
including this year. He attends most of our games, has to as he is also the
guys with the bases and balls. A quiet guy on the team until he needs to
speak to put a charge into the team. Never would you hear a negative word
from him, even when parts of our season were not going well. He likes to let
his playing do his talking for him, and he does that well. Very few errors on
defense and combine that with a 292 average with 9 BB and 14 hits, a great
man to count on when you need that leader by example. For this great guy that
every team would want him as a teammate, we feel teams should really think
about Brian for this award.

Not only was Mitch our best
player this year, but he showed up to 23 of 24 games, played almost every
inning (even with his arm practically falling off at times), and never
complained even when we were playing at our worst (so basically, most of the
year)

T-Bills gets the Dukes
nomination for Sportsmanship and Ability again this year. Trevor is a solid
player, tough competitor and a great teammate. Above all else Trevor plays
the game the way its meant to be played. |

Honestly, it's pretty hard for a
guy to have his name on the nominations list three times, but for the Jacks
this year, Marc Hughes stands out in every facet of the game (except for
pitching). As opposing hitters and umpires can attest, he's a great personality
behind the plate, he knows the game in and out, and is a vocal leader on the
field for our team, and a quiet leader off of it. Always willing to tip his
cap to a good performance and keeps our team's heads up when things don't go
according to plan.

Mainstay at the top of our
lineup. He's a perennial competitor for our top batter prize. Consistently
picks up double digit SB.Speed tranlates well to his defense where he roams
RF and CF. Laser arm. Always calm and cool, never complains. Has a competitive
style of play but it never results in him lashing out at umpires or opposing
team's players (never). Great team mate! |

Even though it was an up and
down season, Sebastien was a workhorse for us all year. Thanks in part to a
few Advils popped before game time, he was able to catch over 20 for us this
year. A daunting task, but he did it with pride and because he put the teams
values ahead of his. A great leader who loves to compete while maintaining a
positive attitude throughout.

Great guy and a great teammate.
First time playing ball, and really showed dedication towards the sport. If
only there were a most improve players award, he for sure get it. |

The Jack Johnson of NCBL, Danny
is always a positive spirit on his team and the league. He's a defensive tsar
that pics balls like a janitor cleaning the school roof on a summer day.
Fully bilingual, he often engages in game-distracting chit chat with teammates,
opposing players and coaches, umpires, and the odd passer-by. In fact, his
distractions are a detriment to the team at times and of concern to the
coaching staff. But it's Danny! And maybe getting this award would justify
this problematic trend.

Chris had a great year making 8
of the 14 leaderboards. He is also a genuinely nice guy, never having
anything negative to say. I don't even think I have ever heard him swear. He
plays all over the diamond, wherever he is needed, and even regularly drives
other players to the games.
