Brewers 12 Panthers 11

This was a wild game where the two teams combined for 29 hits and 4 errors. Neither teams pitchers got much help from their defense. The game started quietly with neither team scoring in the first two innings. It looked to be a typical Brewers/Panthers game with few hits and few errors and few runs....the exact opposite ended up happening. The Panthers struck first with 4 runs in the top of the third. After a Brewer error led off the inning, Steve Smith and John Carbonette each hit 2 RBI singles for a 4-0 lead. The wheels then fell off for the Panthers starting pitcher Borselino as Jason Krottner hit a two RBI single and then after 2 more hits and 2 out, Keith Blouin hit a bases loaded triple, and then scored on an overthrow at third base trying to get him, making the score 6-4 for the Brewers. Hank Beelen followed with a solo homer to right field and then after two more hits, Matt Beelen hit a 2 RBI double down the left field line, knocking Borselino out of the game. After the third the score stood at 9-4. Brewers starter, Matt Beelen, then settled down and got through the 4th and 5th easily with the help of a 1-6-3 double play in the 5th. Meanwhile, Steve Smith came in to pitch for the Panthers and also didn't give up a run in the 4th or 5th. The Panthers scored two in the 6th with RBI singles by Chris Kohli and Rob Lay, but the Brewers also scored a run in the bottom of the 6th with a 2 out RBI double from Keith Blouin. Going into the 7th the score stood at 10-6 for the Brewers. Matt Beelen stayed in to pitch the seventh. After a Brewer error began the inning, the Panthers scored one run on a bases loaded walk to Carbonette, and then with two out, Thompson hit a bases clearing double to left center to tie the game at 10. Chris Kohli then promptly hit him in to take an 11-10 lead. The wildness continued in the bottom of the seventh with Chris Ivany getting hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, then a single by Mike Gingerich. After a fielder choice at third, Jason Krottner loaded the bases with a single and then Mark Keenan hit a single up the middle to knock in two runs and win the game 12-11.
