Kanata 10 Brewers 9

In a wild game at Kinsmen Field in Kanata, the Brewers and Selects, each tried to continue their winning streaks. Early on it looked like Kanata would run away with this game, but the Brewers battled back, and came within an out of winning. Kanata struck quickly and frequently in the first inning. Al Brule led off with a double to the base of the wall in right field off of Brewer starter Mike Gazo who evidently didn't have his good stuff on this night. After a sacrifice fly by Jeff Rawson to score Brule, Kanata got 4 more in the inning, all with two outs. Mike Watters led the onslaught with a solo homer to right, then Mosely, Muller, and Majkowski each hit doubles and then Marcheterre finished the hit parade with an RBI single to make the score 5-0 after 1 inning.

The Brewers didn't quite though, as they came back with two runs in the second with RBI singles by Gazo, and Nick Lenarden, after they loaded the bases with nobody out, off of Kanata starter Bob Howe. Kanata then added 2 more in the third inning another RBI single by Marcheterre, and a sac fly from Hopewell. Kanata added yet another one in the fourth after Kellam singled, stole second and then scored from third on a wild pitch. Meanwhile, Howe was cruising through the game and got to the fifth with a lead of 8-2.

In this inning the Brewers got back into the game, scoring 4 runs by getting the first 6 batters of the inning to reach base and highlighted by RBI singles from Mark Keenan, and Jon Zywicki, and a sac fly from Lenarden. Also, Mike Gingerich was hit by a pitch to walk in a run. After 5 innings the score stood at 8-6. The Brewers then chased Howe in the 6th, by scoring 2 more runs to tie the game with another RBI single from Zywicki. Hugh Kellam came in after the game was tied and was able to get the last two outs of the inning. After Matt Beelen pitched a scoreless 6th, the Brewers then took the lead with a clutch 2 out RBI single from Jason Krottner.

Then the wildest half inning began. With one out, Majkowski blooped a single to right field, and then Marcheterre hit a single to right to put runners at 1st and 3rd with Matt Beelen on the mound and one out. Beelen then picked off Marcheterre off of first and it seemed that the momentum would end on the Brewers side, but Hopewell had other ideas as he then tripled to centerfield to tie the game, a ball that Hank Beelen in center came within a foot of making a miraculous diving catch. Then with Hopewell on third, Nate Letourneau then hit a single to the right center gap to end the slugfest and give Kanata another win.

Player of the Game: Jon Zywicki, Brewers, 4/4, 2 runs,2 RBI,
