Brewers 2 Cardinals 1
For the second time this season the Brewers won a pitching duel with the Cardinals 2-1. Both starters, Mike Gazo and Sadavoy, pitched well enough to get the win. Sadavoy set the Brewers down in order in the top of the 1st, and the Cardinals then got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first. Burke led off with a double to deep left center, then scored on a Brewer error. Then with runners on 1st and second with no outs, Gazo picked the Cardinals runner off of second and got out of the inning allowing just one run. From then on the Cardinals, didn't get another runner to second base as Gazo shut them down finishing with 6 strike outs and zero walks.
Sadavoy matched Gazo shutting down the Brewers through 5 innings but in the 6th the Brewers finally got to him. Jason Krottner singled with one out and then Mark Keenan doubled to deep right field to tie the game. After Sadavoy struck out the next batter, Dave Burke came in to pitch to Chris Ivany. Ivany promptly lined an 0-2 pitch up the middle to score Keenan. Burke got out of the top of the seventh without giving up a run after allowing a double to Jon Zywicki. Mike Gazo though finished the game off in style, getting the last 11 batters he faced out.
Player of the Game: Mike Gazo, 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 ER, 0 walks, 6 K's, plus 1/3 batting
