May 28th
Brewers at Yankees
8:30, Faulkner Field

Brewers 9, Yankees 5

This was a very ugly game, with many errors, bloops, and misplayed balls that could have been errors.  The pitchers on both sides were not very well supported by their defence. The game was scoreless after 2 innings, when the Brewers struck in the third for an unearned run, the Yankees responded in the bottom of the inning with 3 unearned runs of their own as the Brewers made 3 errors in the inning. The Yankees stranded the bases loaded though after hitting a couple infield hits, and outfield bloops, so it could have been much worse for the Brewers. After the Brewers scored in the fourth courtesy of a Mike Gingerich RBI double, the Yankees struck again with 2 runs in the fourth, one earned, with Cairns getting a big RBI double. Neither team scored in the 5th, but the Brewers got their big inning in the 6th, scoring 5 runs, with 6 hits in the inning ended by a 2 RBI single by Mark Keenan, to take the lead for good. Jason Krottner hit a 2 RBI single in the seventh to finish off the scoring for the game, while Matt Beelen, after getting through a rough 3rd and 4th, shut out the Yankees for the last 3 innings for the complete game victory. The Yankees starting pitcher, Pignat, came out of the game with the lead, but ended up not getting a decision.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Merleau, Yankees. 3/4, 1 2B, 1 SB, and 6 catches in left field.
