The Hull-Volants won their sixth game in a row, defeating the Hitmen, 2-1, at Heritage on Wednesday June 6.  Winning pitcher Eric Boisvert went the distance, giving up a run on 6 hits, striking out 10 (including 8 on called strikes) and walking only 2 batters.  For the Hitmen,  Alex Priest-Brown also came up with a strong performance, pitching a complete game, surrendering 7 hits, striking out 7 and not walking any batters.

The Volants scored a run in the fifth inning when Sylvain Fitzgerald blooped a single behind first  base and stole second.  Priest-Brown struck out the next two batters.  Justin Istead then blooped a single behind the shortstop, scoring Fitzgerald.

In the seventh inning, Claude Roussell lifted a towering fly that found its way over the right field fence to give the Volants a 2-0 lead.

The Hitmen managed to load the bases with two outs in the sixth inning on two walks and a single, but Adam Oattes was out at home plate in attempting to come home on a wild pitch.  In the seventh inning, Jaeme Gloyn lead off with a single and advanced to third when he stole second and the throw got away from the fielder.  Boisvert retired the next two batters on strikes.  St.-Toute singled home Gloyn but was then thrown out at second on the first pitch to the next batter to end the game.

St-Toute went three for three for the Hitmen, all singles, including two infield hits.  However he was unable to advance to second base as he was caught stealing three times, being thrown out twice by the Volant’s catcher Daniel Miville and once by his replacement, Benoit Boivin.
