In a rematch of the 2000 tier 1 championship, Kanata pounded out 16 hits, led by a career night by Shawn Hopewell. Hopewell went 5 for 5, and hit for the cycle in his first 4 at-bats. Getting 2 RBI triple in the first, a double in the third, a single in the fourth, a home run in the sixth, and finished off the night with an RBI single in the seventh. The rout was on in the fourth when Hugh Kellam hit a two run shot to straight away center that made the score 7-1. Adding to the Brewers problems was Kanata starter Mike Watters who gave up just one run in three innings, and then gave way to Penny, and Kellam to pitch the rest of the way.
