Cardinals at Brewers
Sportsplex

boxscore

After being scheduled to play at McCarthy, no one could figure out how to get the lights on, thus the two teams drove to the Sportsplex where an East Nepean little league team was practicing and they thankfully gave us the field....so thank you to East Nepean...

Once we finally got the game going, the Cardinals loaded the bases with nobody out off of Brewers starter Geoff Magnus. The Brewers got out of the jam though after a force out at home and then 2 strike outs.

After neither team had scored yet, the Brewers struck in the bottom of the 2nd off of Cards starter Gary Gauley. They scored 3 times via an RBI single by Joe Beelen and then a 2 RBI bloop single by Jon Zywicki with 2 outs. Hank Beelen hit a 2-out RBI double in the 3rd inning to make it 4-0. The Brewers then broke it wide open in the 4th when Jason Krottner tripled in 2 runs again with 2 out. He then scored their 7th and final run on a wild pitch.

Meanwhile, Magnus cruised through the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings, giving up just one hit and striking out 6.  But in the 5th, the Cards looked to get back in the game as they loaded the bases again with just one out. But once again Magnus pitched out of the jam.

The Cardinals were able to plate an un-earned run in the 6th via a Fink RBI single, but that was all they could muster as the Brewers won 7-1.

In Player of the Game : Geoff Magnus...6 IP, 5 hits, 11 K`s, 0 earned runs.
